From Souvenir Store to Cultural House
“If you value stillness and gentle hospitality, you’ll love Quiet Curator Mornings” This has become one of Itoro Okopide’s most repeated lines to women she encounters. And it perfectly captures the spirit of experience.
When Eami’s Place opened its doors to the public in July 2024, it launched asa carefully considered souvenir store. On opening day, members of the press from BusinessDay, The Guardian, The Nation, among others were present to cover what was described as a one-of-a-kind concept: a souvenir store with unique pieces from around the world.
The Journey Begins
Edinyanga Uko as founder and Itoro Okopide as Curator.
When Edinyanga Uko founded Eami’s Place, she drew from her love for cultural travel and her experience visiting several countries across the world. Souvenirs came later as an extension of her love for preserving culture.
Along a similar path, Itoro Okopide discovered through her own travels that when culture and depth matter to you, collecting a piece of a destination feels instinctive, not indulgent. As two sisters bound by a shared appreciation for travel, storytelling, and cultural preservation, Eami’s Place officially launched as a souvenir store on July 28, 2024 with clear vision to introduce the world to people.
Six Months In: A Shift Toward Storytelling
“Eami’s Place just grounds me in an unexpected way, I think something better can come out of here.”
Six months into operations, something became clear.
Collectors visiting Eami’s Place didn’t just want souvenirs, they wanted stories and cultural understanding behind the pieces they were acquiring for their homes. At the same time, Itoro was completing her studies at Lagos Business School and the Nigerian Institute of Counselling, deepening her ability to hold space and meaningfully with others. This convergence created an opportunity to introduce storytelling, stillness and thoughtful hospitality into the Eami’s Place experience.
A Cultural House is Born
Today, Eami’s Place has expanded its offerings to include Cultural memberships, Curated experiences, Boutique curation, Cultural events, & Souvenirs – still at its core.
Quiet Curator Mornings: An Intimate Experience for Women
Now in its sixth edition, Quiet Curator Mornings is an intimate gathering limited to no more than seven women, designed for those who value stillness, reflection and gentle hospitality. Led by Itoro Okopide, the experience brings together: Cultural storytelling, counselling-informed reflection, thoughtful hospitality details unique to Eami’s Place.
It was created from a simple but often unmet need: a space for women to slow down, feel held, and be present together. The response has been quietly affirming. Reviews speak to grounding, connection, and a sense of calm that lingers long after the morning ends.
A Quiet but Lasting Cultural Offering
Quiet Curator Mornings is a curated intimate cultural experience that reflects what Eami’s Place has become: a home for intentional gathering.
